Hi,

these sentences should be explained more precisely:

An amateur is a man with widespread interests. If your are going to calculate the limit of amateurs interest, you'll find someone who know nothing about everything.

An expert is a man, who focus his interest on one subject more and more intensely. So finally he is a man, who know everything about nothing.
