Just because a subject is hard doesn't mean you shouldn't do it - I find real analysis impossible, and yet I am in love with the subject! Also, last semester I took what was supposed to be the hardest pure module my uni did - "Group Rings". It was hard, but it was actually quite a nice module.

Challenges are good. Also, if a course is challenging it can often lead to a much deeper understanding of the subject area.
