Pet Peeve Warning! Danger Will Robinson! Danger! Danger!

Is it just me or is it very distracting when someone starts to use "chat spellings" in an otherwise erudite argument?

For example: A member posts a reply to a user and gives a mathematical induction proof using perfect diction and spelling then tacks on the sentence "u can use this 2 do any other problem."

It just ruins the whole thing for me.

That and the "English" spelling of Greek letters. I can almost understand the "mew" I saw the other day since mu is not a standard Greek letter for many. But someone that uses "pie" just ought to be hung barefoot from the ceiling and have their feet licked remorselessly by a rabid pack of puppies.

Pet peeve over. Thanks for listening/ignoring me. I feel better now.
