b) make a table of the marginal and joint PMFs of X and Y | This is just spadework. Use this table to get started: Dice table
If you need more help, please explain what you can do and say where you get stuck.

| | I'm lost, what do you mean larger of the two heads of a coin?
I know that Mr Fantasy has a big head, but surely you aren't talking about that. | | The following users thank matheagle for this useful post: | | |

I know that Mr Fantasy has a big head, but surely you aren't talking about that. | If only my eyes were in relative proportion to my head ..... I completely misread the question and saw dice instead of coins. The problem is not even spadework now (assuming a value is assigned to heads and a value to tails), more like gardening.
I guess we'll know more when the OP replies.

Its meaning that X is the smallest and Y is the largest.
so if you rolled the first die and it was a 5 and the second was a 3 the joint pmf would be zero because X can't be larger than Y because its the smallest. Just needed to make sure I did my problem right. Thanks for you post |
