Default hypothesis testing with normal distribution

Suppose I am given a set of independent samples and asked to test the hypothesis that it is from a normal distribution with k=10 classes of equal probability?

I have a method for testing whether it is from a poisson but, frankly, I do not understand it.

A step-by-step procedure, if anybody is willing to share, would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
