Write z=x+iy, x and y are real numbers.

-> (8-i)z=(8x+y)+i(y-x)

-> (8-i)z+3=(8x+y+3)+i(y-x)

--> Re((8-i)z+3)=8x+y+3

----> \boxed{8x+y+3=0}

Question

So your first step you expanded brackets yes?
so
> (8-i)z
> (8-i)(x+iy)
> 8x + 8y - ix - iy = 8(x+y) - i(x-y)

Which doesnt look like yours. What am i doing wrong?
