| | Studying Maths at Uni I'm a year 12 student going on to University soon. I've got pretty reasonable results in my maths subjects (A's and B's, with occasional C's), so I was wondering.. In terms of careers and/or further study, what can a Bachelor of Mathematics lead to? |

| | Most jobs don't really need specialists (they will just want a 2.1 in a reasonable degree, i.e. not film studies). Other than those you can go into finance. A more exotic option is the army, nuclear weapons development people hire mathematicians.
With statistics you can branch off to biology, geometry will let you branch to physics, probability will help with finance and actuarial science. I know someone who also worked in a drilling company (he is a probabilist). Be warned, he said it was dull and boring. By far the most interesting path, in my opinion, is being an acedemic. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
