Not that I entirely disagree, but to what end? In many cases if someone wants to ask a question they will have to wait for an answer anyway. I can only think that the chat room would be mainly a social place as opposed to educational, which is not the purpose of the site.

However it could be used for tutoring purposes if the staff decided to do something like that... But I agree with CaptainBlack, let's get the site fully up and running before we suggest too many major additions!

I share topsquark's opinion. It seems like good idea but once installed it can turn into just ordinary chat room with no math involved in it.

Let them first install LaTeX, that is No. 1 priority!

are you gonna eat me?come on!that was just an hint...but of course there's that holy latex that comes first!!!!!anyway, there are2000rooms to discuss about math and one room to"chat"..this one..which has no great math involvement....i was suggesting to turn this archetipol of chat into a true one(which is not a priority ok...) but as you can post stupid things here, a place of "distraction" already exists..i'm not misleading anyone!!! it was just to give a complete shape to this strange chat room..and, the ones who are here are here to talk about math, so that would have been fun to discuss math topics, philosophy of math and so on, to exchange math views and so on.. live, in real time..can you see?

I think the idea is bad.

This was not designed like no of those forums where people just say anything they want. The only one he have here is Talk Spam 6. And it is working the way it should be.

We have actually looked into a chat application for the site but haven't found one that suits our liking.
