| | Painting Hello everyone -
I thought you might like to see the watercolour painting that I finished at the weekend.
It's based on a photograph I took at the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens at Wisley, Surrey last September.
I'm trying to develop a looser, more fluid style of painting, and not be so fussy about excessive detail. So I forced myself to paint most of this picture standing up - the only exception being the more detailed shadows on the bridge. I was fairly pleased with the result.

| | I really love your paintings, surely the better thaan the pictures that we usually see over here A huge thank you for them
Suggestion: I think it will be better if you post them like a new reply to a single thread under the name "Paintings" , so that we can see all of them together rather than wandering here and there for them , Moreover it will lessen your burden |

| | Latest watercolour I managed to find time to do some more painting recently. Here's one of them. Bodiam Castle in Kent. Owned by the National Trust. If you're ever in this part of the world, it's worth a visit.

| | Really fantastic paintings. Are you a fan of oils, or do you primarily use water colours?
Also, on a side note, you should set up an account on deviantart.com. Your work would get much praise and appreciation there, that is, if you're into the whole "post, blog, rate" ordeal. |

| | Hello RAz
Thanks for the comments. I use watercolour almost exclusively. I've done a little in acrylics, but have never tried oils. Perhaps I'm mean, but I don't like the thought of all that paint drying up and becoming unusable - with watercolour you can just re-wet it and start again!

| | Latest watercolour Hello everyone.
Here's the latest painting. This is the River Cam in Cambridge. I found painting the water quite a challenge. There's very little light in that part of the picture, and initially I made it too dark. Not a good thing to do in watercolour, because you can't paint a lighter colour on top of a darker one!
But I managed to wash much of the pigment off, and just about rescued it!

| | Village Street near Cambridge Hello everyone -
Thanks for your kind comments. Here's a watercolour that I have just finished. It's a street in a village called Fen Ditton, just north of Cambridge. They hold a village fair on the recreation ground there each year. For the last couple of years I've painted a few local scenes for this.

| | Latest watercolour Hello again everyone -
Here's the latest watercolour painting. It's of a property in Wimbledon, South London. I was working from a photograph that was taken in early spring, when the trees weren't in leaf, so I've used a bit of artistic licence. I was quite pleased with the result, though.

| | Hi Grandad
What an amazing paintings !!
To tell you the truth, I got 3 out of 10 for drawing subject when I was in senior high school.
Even me, with such a poor art-sense, can tell that your paintings are incredible !!
Thx for sharing |

Check these out: Pictured: Incredible watercolour paintings by boy aged just SIX | Mail Online
Wow! I'm amazed by these paintings from a six-year old. My efforts are really laboured by comparison.

Grandad | Looks fantastic, especially how the water looks to have different levels of depth to it. Did you paint it on site, or did you photograph it whilst you were there? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
