It makes me really angry when a person who knows little in one area attacks another. For example, I know absolutely nothing about abstract expressionism but I am able to understand that there is something that people like about it, art does not have to be realistic, just like math does not need to be applied*). Whenever these people come to me and say "you should do applied math" it makes me so angry, my blood runs cold and so by degrees. Because these type of people know absolutely nothing about math and already are making predictions.

Same by Augustine, he probably knew nothing about math, and thought it was like science, which is sometimes blashmeous.

I agree, PH. 'Monday morning quarterbacks' are irritating. These people have no interest and passion for math the way you do and think that if it isn't used in everyday life it serves no purpose. How narrow-minded.
