Default Too much Math, Not enough Application

As a junior in college, I'm regretting becoming a pure math major. I know how to do the math but I have yet to see why I would need it. I'm about to transfer school so I'm contemplating changing my major to Financial Math or Stats but I would have to take my third year courses over again (Proofs, Numerical Analysis etc.) I want to be an Actuary so do you suggest switching to Financial Math, Applied Math or Stats?

I'm assuming you're getting your Bachelor's right now. I would still stick with pure mathematics and then go for a Master's in Statistics or Finance. Someone told me that grad schools actually look for a more broad spectrum of knowledge, even if you are going to end up getting a Master's in Statistics or Finance. I'm a freshman in college right now, and I'm planning to pursue a Bachelor's in pure mathematics, but I might decide on doing secondary education. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

I think you need to consider mostly what it is you want to do with your degree(s). I am wrapping up my undergraduate degree right now and have had to face the same questions. I think it's best to always keep options open so if you can stand the grind of getting a B.S. in math, the other stuff will be a piece of cake and you'll have more doors open for you. If you are 100% positive that you don't require a pure math degree to do what you want to do, then do what you think is best. If you think having a pure math degree will hinder your ability to be able to handle the other fields you mentioned, I wouldn't worry.
