Smile math puzzle

I am playing a game and it has a math puzzle in it. If someone can help me figure it out, that would be great It involves numbers 1-8. In the first part, you have to add and or multiply 2 numbers to come up with a sum. The sum then subtracts a number to come up with a difference. For example, 2+6 = 8-5 = 3 -4 = 1-8= 7, but they are in a circle sooo....
The clue is "arrange the numbers so that each sum and difference gives the same answer." Can anyone help please?
