Default Oral exams

So I had my last final today and it was a new experience. For my abstract algebra class I had an oral exam as my final. It was really weird, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It felt awkward standing at the chalkboard with my professor watching. It was also very intimidating. All in all I think I liked it better than a written exam.

I have never had an oral exam before, but I think it really gave me a chance to show my professor what I knew (or didn’t). I was just curious what everyone else thinks about oral exams.

Thanks

Hi,

Well in France, there is a sort of studies, where you approximatively have 2 oral "exams" a fortnight, in maths, physics, chemistery, English, French... (for the scientific way )
And then for the "competitions" (not exactly, but you don't have an English name for it ^^) after these 2 years of studies, there is also an oral part.

Though I hated the ones in physics, I found it interesting because it's more complicated than being in front of a blank page. You are in front of a "blank page" AND you have a teacher behind you looking at what you do.
And you have to make the effort to be understandable, in what you write, and in what you say.

Well, to sum up, I'd say it's better than a written exam because you need to write and speak, almost like a teacher.

oral exams ,I did not take it in university , I take oral exams just in school and just in first years it is make me confused I do not like it .

I think if I take oral exams in university I will fail specially if the number of students is large that will make it more difficult to pass.

I think it is good exams to improve your self confidence .

that's all what I have about oral exams .

I wish you get best grade in "abstract algebra" .

If you study dentistry all of your exams are oral.
