When I read your post I was currently reading your post (link). Currently, I am reading what I am writing.

In the real world, I am currently reading "The Shack" by...someone..., although the book I was reading prior to this was "The Oxford Murders" by...someone else..., which I thought was quite a nice little book. It contemplated the parallels between Godel's incompleteness theorem in maths and investigating crimes, and it also explores logical series; it is relatively maths-ey...

Oh the Oxford murders...is that the novel that has become a movie with Elijah Wood ?

I'm currently reading the Symphony of prime numbers (Marcus du Sautoy), though I'm going through it veeeeeeeeeeery slowly...
Also reading the manga Getbackers, as soon as I can go to the library :P

Yes, it is, although the book seems to have changed along the way (as is usually the case). The thing is, the author had a PhD in maths (and so knew his stuff) and the most obvious theme is that of series, and the fact that there is never (ever) a single logical solution. And yet...in the film's web site (which I discovered not 5 minutes ago) they had some "quizzes", which at first glance were just simple series. However, I had read the book so I was naturally expecting "unexpected" answers - answers that were perfectly logical, just not what you would expect. I was thus surprised when the answer to the first series, 319 287 255, was...191, the obvious answer. And so it continued. The whole point of the book was that what you expect is not (necessarily) true! The film seems to have lost the underlying maths-ey-ness and just kept the obvious simple stuff...

du Sautoy provided quite a nice review of the book, which sort of explains that theme better than I could.

Also, do you perhaps mean "The Music of the Primes", and not the Symphony? I enjoyed that book immensely, although it also took me a very, very long time to finish!

I didn't read the book...but the movie wasn't bad. (though with some mistakes)
I think the movie has to be more "simple" than the book, since it's more public-wide (I mean that more people watch the movie than read the book, so it has to be more understandable)

Yep, I meant Music In French, the title is the translation of "Symphony"
I hope I'll enjoy it as much as you did... Because the beginning is boring

"Phantom" by Terry Goodkind. LOVE the Sword of Truth Series. If you are watching the television series, PLEASE don't dismiss the books. Not that the books are magnificent works of literature or anything, but the television series is a joke compared to the books.

1. Stay Alive, My Son - Pin Yathay.. harrowing and very upsetting (highly recommended)
2. Great Expectations... Classic CD, good book
3. Frankenstein- for my course
4. The Monk (devils, rape, no redemption) - for my course
5. Get On Top Of Google and Stay There.... best for SEO, but poorley written with bad metaphors (still boring even if you run websites)
