Default Descartes

Would anyone know of a good book, website, etc... that gives information about Rene Descartes and his developement of the plane. I'm to give a speech on teusday and I have decided to discuss Decartes grid. I'm going to call it, "The Face of Mathematics". I need some insight into math's course up until Decartes plane, and the course - or acceleration thereof - afterward.

Anything along these lines is deserving of thanks.
