Default Components, edges, and vertices

Hello, I came across this problem and I wasn't entirely sure on how to do it. Seeing if someone can give me a hand with it? Or advice on how to get started? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I think you're looking for Euler's formula for planar graphs. You should find it on every textbook on the subject.
