Exclamation How do you work out the area of a circle?

how do i work out the area of a circle if the distance from the centre of the circle to the edge is 12m?

please help my homework is in tomorrow!

Hi barnes09,

First, we must have the formula for the area of a circle.

A=\pi r^2, where r is the radius (distance from center to edge)

Next, substitute your given value for the radius (12) into the formula and solve for A.

A=\pi (12)^2

A=144 \pi

A \approx 452.4 \ \ m^2
