| | MathType To know what it is, click here.
To download the software, click *URL edited out by request. Illegal version btw*
---
How to use it ¿?
Once installed the software, go to Preferences Translators. Now go to Translation to other language (text) and select the following translator: TeX -- AMS-LaTeX.
Deactivate the option Include MathType data in translation.
And ready to go! All you need to do is write something and paste it into the forum. For example, it'll appear something like
\[
\int_b^a {x\,dx}
\]
Remove the \[ and \], put [math][/math], you'll get:
[math]\int_b^a {x\,dx}[/math] which generates
And we're done
Hope it helps.

| | If one simply wants to produce LaTeX code, down load TeXaide at the same site. It is free and produces the same code. The ‘big’ version of MathType is for those who need publication quality mathematical typesetting to use with other programs such as Word or PowerPoint, or any other such applications. |

| | Can copy from MHF to MathType too Krizalid, thanks for the instructions about using MathType with MHF. Your instructions were succinct and accurate. Another thing I'd like to point out is that it's also possible to copy an equation from an MHF post and use it in MathType. Rather than include the detailed instructions here, I'll point you to one of our Application Notes. This AppNote is titled Using MathType with Moodle, but the steps shown will apply just as well with MHF.

| | Mr. Mathews,
Sometime ago I suggested to the MathType team that a translator be added to the list of TeX options that would put the correct tags on the LaTeX code. This would help many of who use MathType to generate the LaTex code. |

| | I recently discovered that by using the translator Wikipedia -- Texvc, it gives a clean LaTeX code.
You may try it. |

I really do not use Wikipedia, so I know little about it.
Thanks. |

| | Okay.
When selecting the TeX -- AMS-LaTeX translator, specially when typing a big code, for example \[
\int_0^1 {x^x \,dx} = \int_0^1 {e^{x\ln x} \,dx} = \int_0^1 {\left\{ {\sum\limits_{k\, = \,0}^\infty {\frac{{x^k \ln ^k x}}
{{k!}}} } \right\}\,dx}
\]
that is what generates by using that translator; but compare it with Wikipedia -- Texvc translator: <math>\int_{0}^{1}{x^{x}\,dx}=\int_{0}^{1}{e^{x\ ln x}\,dx}=\int_{0}^{1}{\left\{ \sum\limits_{k\,=\,0}^{\infty }{\frac{x^{k}\ln ^{k}x}{k!}} \right\}\,dx}</math>
it's cleaner, and very useful here, since the LaTeX string allowed is about 400, then by using the wiki translator, reduces space and you can type a bit more. |

| | Sorry, I put that question poorly.
What I meant is “Where does one get that translator”. |

| | You gotta get MathType, then go to "Preferences" - "Translators," then select "Translation to other language (text)." After that just select the "Wikipedia -- Texvc" translator. |
