Default latex not working for me?

I try it and it just does not come out right, what am i doing wrong?

for example

[math] \frac{x+2}{x+6} [\math] this should come out as x+2/x+6

i cannot see what i am doing wrong if anything,

The end tag should be [/math]

Otherwise, you can select the text you want in latex and then click on on top of the window where you write.

That should be a forward slash in [/math]

\frac{x+2}{x+6}
