Default Linear Algebra matrices

Why is row(A) = col(B), where the matrix B is the transpose of matrix A. (so long as one ignores the distinction between row and column vectors)

That's what the transpose of a matrix is by definition.

All the rows of A become the columns of B, and vice versa.
