| |  In the market for math-ware
Anybody here familiar with Sigma-Plot? I'm kind of shopping around for a cheap all around graphing, plotting, computing, type of software that allows me to write math and text simultaneously. Any one got any suggestions. Or, better yet, free downloads?  |

Gnuplot is by far the best plotting solution that's open source and free at the same time. gnuplot homepage
There is a great support channel on irc.freenode.net #gnuplot aswell. |

I'm having a little trouble downloading this thing. What is it? Is it a plot program? The only thing that i could find to download was some pdf. |

That should be the correct repository.
If you're running Windows then gp425win32.zip is the one to get.
After installing/unzipping you'll find the executables in the /bin directory. To plot a function you can try something like 'plot sin(x)' in the 'gnuplot>' command line. | | The following users thank cith for this useful post: | |  |

OK. I've got gp425win32.zip. Now, how do I use the thing? Which file contains the plotting program? Which file contains the command list? |

Run pgnuplot.exe from the /bin directory to run commands.
You might need this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
to read help files in Vista/Windows 7. Commands can be looked up by typing 'help' in the command line, or 'help command' to get help on a specific command, try 'help plot'. The files wgnuplplot.exe and wgnuplot-pipes are for piping sdin in Windows. I'm not sure how this works as I'm a GNU/Linux user myself, but pgnuplot.exe should have everything you need. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes |  Linear Mode |
