In general you should not need to use comercial software, for most things there are freeware and/or opensource alternatives.

What is illegal and what is right/wrong are two seperate issues. Many laws that we have are unjust. I myself have no problem with people sharing your software with eachother as long as I do not sell someone else's work and make a profit from it. However, it is illegal, that is why the forum does not have these downloads available. If you are a person who is concerned about the law then it is illegal, if not, then you would have to go to a different website to download those kinds of things.

And, you, as a moderator, in keeping with the ethical principles of the forum, would probably not give me, a worm, a hint as to where such discrete and ignoble websites may be found?wink wink, grin grin, say-no-more?

I'm looking for Maple, Sigma-Plot,etc........

Or would you?

I obviously don't speak for the moderators for this site, but giving information about illegal file sharing websites is not only against forum rules, in some places of the world it is illegal.

CaptainBlack has made a very good point about open source software, not only is a lot cheaper, in a lot of cases it is as good as the best paid alternative.

I like the irony that your signature implies. A communist, libertarian, Marxist, South Park watcher, that enjoys a good nuclear holocaust. You must be liberal. A plus in my eyes.

Irony is not the good word here, the word is "contradictory". Well, yes, I realize that it contradictory.
I will fix it to remove confusion from people in the future when I am not lazy.

Just like others have said, don't talk about or ask for illegal things on MHF. That's to protect us and not have to deal with any legal issues. What you do through PM's and other forms of communications with members (AIM, MSN, etc.) is your business
