What answers did you get? Just see if they make sense by plugging them back into the equations or looking at the original information.

If we a number, say, N = 765, the way to "move it over 3 spaces" is to multiply by 1000.
Then we have: 765,000 . . . then we can add on, for example, "221".
Then we have: 765221.

And THAT is how they "tack on 221" to the end of our number.
