Default fraction problems

can someone show me how to do these problems, I am really stuck.

1) next year a woman will receive a rise amounting to one-eighth of her weekly wage. Her weekly wage will then be £180. what is her present weekly wage.

2) A man sells his car £1620 and, as a result loses one-tenth of the price he paid for it. what price did he pay for it?

Let x = her wage now

x + 1/8 x = 180

2) A man sells his car £1620 and, as a result loses one-tenth of the price he paid for it. what price did he pay for it?

Let x = the original price

x - 1/10 x = 1620
