I have an algebra problem where I need to find X, hopefully someone can help as I cannot see the wood for the trees on this one.

THanks for any help anyone

X - ((0.2*X) + (0.3*X)) = 100

$X-((0.2X)+(0.3X))=100$

$\implies X(1-(0.2+0.3))=100$

$\implies X=\frac{100}{(1-(0.2+0.3))}$

$\implies X=\frac{100}{0.5}$

$\implies X=200$

just in-regards to your answer, why did u remove the X's and place a 1 before the additions ?

Good point actually. I don't really know why i did that come to think of it.

I'll just say i was giving an insight into how he would do harder questions of the same principal.
