Order of operations says to attack the brackets first, then the parenthesis, then multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction last. Are you sure there are no brackets or parenthesis around your third and fourth group of terms?

the last part is 1 part so there is no 4th part... and yes there is no brackets.

I know how to tackle them... I can't get it working

Once again I'm going to be anal, but this time in a good cause, at least.

You are saying that your problem is to simplify
\frac{\left ( \frac{2 - y - \frac{6q}{y} - 3q}{y^2 - \frac{16q^2}{y^2} - 2yq - 5q^2} \right )}{y^2} + yq - \frac{12q^2}{4y} + 8yq

Since I really doubt this is what you are trying to work with, please use parentheses to clear this up. There are too many ways to interpret this otherwise.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - The Litany Against Fear, "Dune" by Frank Herbert
