it all adds up to 9... puzzles(frustrating)!!!

how do i complete a "it all adds up to 9" puzzle? i can manage to do all boxes until i reach the last few and it all messes up. an example of what i am doing (but the one im doing is on a much bigger scale) is here on Education World ® Lesson Planning: It All Adds Up: Math Puzzle of the Week

write back as soon as anyone knows how to complete these damn puzzles!
