$Default$ Quadratic Equations and the Null Factor Law

$x^2=x$

I solved the equation as follows:

$x^2-x=0$

$(x-\sqrt{x})(x+\sqrt{x})=0$

$\therefore x=+\sqrt{x},-\sqrt{x}$

But my book says the answer is

$x=0,1$

How did they get that answer?

$x^2-x=0\mbox{ so } x(x-1)=0$
$\therefore x=0 \mbox{ or } x-1=0$
