Default Quadratic Equations and the Null Factor Law

x^2=x

I solved the equation as follows:

x^2-x=0

(x-\sqrt{x})(x+\sqrt{x})=0

\therefore x=+\sqrt{x},-\sqrt{x}

But my book says the answer is

x=0,1

How did they get that answer?

x^2-x=0\mbox{ so } x(x-1)=0
\therefore x=0 \mbox{ or } x-1=0
