Use the distributive law: ab+ cb= (a+c)b so a(y- 4)+ s(y- 4)= ?

Hi Riana07

a(y-4)+s(y-4)

Can you see that you have two terms in the above expression?

Each term has the factor (y-4)

If you use the distributive property as HallsofIvy suggested, you could factor out this common factor to get:

(y-4)(a+s)
