I have a quick question. I have a friend who has 64.5% in his course. He has an exam coming up worth 30% of his grade. I told him he needs over 16.7% on the exam in order to pass. In that correct?
To learn, in general, how to compute your grade, try here.
How did you arrive at your value? If your friend gets 16.7% of the thirty points represented by the final, then he will be adding only 5.01 points to the 64.5 that he already has. This puts him still below 70 points. How many points are needed for passing?
So the exam is worth 30% of his grade, and everything else is 70%.
and then when you add the two up, you get 50.16%. What's the passing grade for the class? I'm also not sure if this is correct (maybe this is why I never try to calculate my grade...).
