Hello, angeldri!

I must assume you know the standard forms for a parabola.

Quote:
Find the focus of the parabola: .(x-1)^2 + 32 \;= \;8y
We have: .(x-1)^2 \;=\;8y - 32\quad\Rightarrow\quad(x-1)^2 \;=\;8(y-4)

This is an up-opening parabola with vertex at (1,4) and p = 2.

The focus is 2 units above the vertex: .F(1,6)
