Question Imaginary Numbers

Suppose that x and y are real numbers such that (2+3x)-(5-3y)i = 11+7i.
Find the values of x and y.

Thank you for any help!

How about equating the REAL part of the left side of equation to the REAL part of the right side of equation? Then equate the IMAGINARY parts of the two sides in the same sense!

(2+3x)-(5-3y)i = 11+7i.

So...
2+3x = 11 and (5-3y)i = 7i ???

yes. but you could have left off the i's. doesn't really matter in the end, but it looks awkward. and you have to carry the minus sign! i put it in in red
