Default Find a fuction f(x)

Hi, new to Math Help Forum. This site seems promising

Find an equation for X (the 300 unit length side) so that you can name any point on that same hypotenuse.

I don't know where to start. This is an extra credit question on an assignment and I was not given much information on how to do this. If possible, please show the work that was done to arrive at the answer!

I don't understand the question above. Can you clarify?

Sorry, I meant to say 'equation' not 'function'. So in that case, find an equation for X.
