Default Random line breaks

When typing posts my text will often take a new line for no apparent reason. I will be in the middle of a line and a new line will appear. I have noticed other people have encountered - but not corrected - such problems in their own posts.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Does anyone know the reason for it?

It often causes text to look a bit like this
, which is kind of annoying...
