Default Use the THANKS button to thank helpful posters

If you find a post helpful please use the thanks button to thank the helpful poster.
(and don't thank them if its not )

It makes them feel wanted and makes it more likely that your questions
will receive more attention from the helpers (shallow lot that they are) next
time you ask for help.

Also don't abuse the system by forming cliques giving one another thanks for
trivial of non-existent help.

RonL

(To make this clearer use the thanks button on the helpful post not this one,
unless that is you have found this post helpful )

Wow, the forum has been up for ages, just shows how bad the rep system was before. Even now, not many people rep. So this sticky is good.

It's funny how you thought the idea was pointless when it started

Now your the spokesperson...

I see you took a right off the distinguished road to become famous soon enough, finally.

Only when it looked like both the rep and thanks systems were not doing
anything usefull.

I only did what someone else (you?) suggested. Any system of this
type succeeds or fails on the basis of what proportion of members
use it. So if it is to have a fair chance we need to encourage people to
use it.

No it wasn't me who suggested it, I would have thought that a button that says "thanks" would be self explanatory. Of course now it says in my signature and I tend to get thanked almost every time

Not the first to get three if I recall correctly (that was topsquark I think),
but first to four and five peas.

Great work captain! and the rest who spend their time on the MathHelpForum to help everyone solve their problems. You are all great and very helpful! Your help is greatly appreciated.

No wonder why the members have increased largely since I joined nearly a year ago (around 1200). Currently 3,742 and rising everyday!!

Best Regards,

Dadon
