| | Unbelievable traffic on this site...why? As anyone ever went to the math section of Yahoo?. The traffic on that site is unbelievable. The posts roll in continuously and the traffic is more than even here or any forum I have been to. I don't really want to call it a forum. The posts run a broad gamut, from beginning algebra to calculus to even abstract algebra. This is a site which has no Latex and, all in all, is very lame compared to our wonderful math forum. Just an observation. It just makes me wonder.

| | Yes, I reckon you're correct. Anyone can post, right or wrong. But, if anyone does give an erroneous answer, there are others to chime in and point it out quite rapidly. That, and yahoo is very widespread in that it has a huge forum all the way around and folks use it for email and such. It's just a shame that these folks don't know about math sites like this one.

| | Because Yahoo! is #1 when it comes to traffic according to Alexa.

| | My guess is that because yahoo is very well known and has a part where you can put your questions (yahooanswers part). I think that many math students just ask the questions there, because they think they will get an answer very fast (due to the amount of people), and simply because they don't even know that there exists math forums where you can ask questions. Also most of them won't know what Latex is. But for sure, if they find mathhelpforum, I'm pretty sure they will post on here instead of yahoo.
EDIT : If I recall well, I think that if you answer a question once, you can't answer anymore. It means that if the asker doesn't understand what you answered, then you cannot explain it to him. (Pretty bad system).

| | Similar reason to why e.g. Akon, SugarBabes, etc. etc. are more popular than, for example, Dmitri Shostakovich. Fashion always wins out (in the short term) over quality in the popularity stakes. |

| | Because mathematics is the hardest thing for most people to learn at school, so they ask alot of questions, and yahoo is a world famous site..
And because everyday people think to them self after watching a movie "****, i'm going to be pro in math, this rule"
ETC. |
